Water Damage Service
Water damage is something that can affect the lives of every home or business owner. There are many reasons water damage can occur including; heavy rains (monsoons or hurricanes), a roof that is leaky, or even windows and doors that have cracks or weren’t sealed correctly. Although water damage has an immediate impact there are also long term effects that should be considered in dealing with the situation. First off the left over droplets of water can cultivate bacteria and develop mold in your house, this can affect not only your walls but also you furniture and flooring as well. You have two major issues here one being the visual impact of discoloration and the olfactory impact of strange smells. The second major issue is the health of the people living in your house. In many cases “black” mold which is not always in plain sight can cause allergic reactions, sickness, and in a few extreme cases may have been the cause of death (in infants).

You have to go through a number of phases to restore your house after getting water damage. Initially you need to dry everything out, your furniture, your carpets, etc. Initially you can try and mop everything up with the aid of towels and buckets if required. After that you will need to get an industrial blower preferably, if you don’t have access to one just use your blow dryer. If there is a lot of humidity in the air make sure to use a humidifier, almost always required in places like Florida or Michigan during the summer because the high levels of humidity in the air make it difficult to dry. Once you have finished all of these processes utilize a professional air purifier in order to eliminate and microorganisms that could still be floating around in the air. This will prevent the growth of mold after you get your house put back together. Also periodically open all of the doors and windows in your house for a few months after the incident to allow any excess humidity to escape.

In some cases rugs cannot be saved, but if you do manage to make sure you wash them before using again.
The last step you need to take involves a vapor steam cleaner. This is used to disinfect the place, and will kill any left over mites or spores. It will help prevent allergic reactions or sickness in anyone living in the abode.
For many this can be a very stressful time, and we all know that insurance companies are not fun to deal with. Trying to do all of this yourself while it may be a bit cheaper will not really be in the long run because you will probably have to end up purchasing everything brand new. If you hire experts they are more likely to be able to preserve some of the items that otherwise will probably go bad after time. So it is in your best interest if you have the funds to leave this job to the experts, and by all means take your insurance for what you can.
